You may wonder why my feet are in a bucket of water. A small clue; midgies and mosquitoes live here in abundance! They don't seem to care about all the vile things you put on to frighten them away!

We were quiet as we gazed at the pictures in these caves; enjoying them on one hand and reliving the times we'd searched for paintings in the caves of our youth on the other.

Mount Elizabeth Station was a surprise, as you will see in the next few blogs.

We have just pitched camp on the Fitzroy River at Willare Bridge and have comms again. Pete and some of his friends are joining us tomorrow.

We are at Home Valley Station, leave tomorrow for a free camping spot on a river tomorrow. We went to this spot and as ever water lured us to explore. If you look carefully at the rocks beside the painting you'll see how beautifully it was nestled. I expect you can find rock paintings amongst most rocky outcrops.

We are now at Home Valley Station which is beautiful in other ways! We have comms on a high hill so have been able to make contact.

Add to these pictures: the constant chatter of amazing birds, the enormous trees and ferns that grow in the warm damp places. Our only wish is that they put their beautiful gorges nearer the car park!

A sunrise trip to the billabong was a thrill for us.

These images were tricky to spot at first but once your eye was in they appeared mysteriously.

Our internet connections is pretty spasmodic hope you all get this. We are at El Questro and away from the fires! Fabulous already.

Around Lake Kununurra

The Ord River ... out of sequence.

We arrived in Kununurra and have enjoyed living on the banks of Lake Kununurra, beneath enormous trees.

We made a 5.00 am start (one degree above freeeeeezing) to be alone at Cathedral Gorge. We weren't! Phantasmagorical is the only word to describe it. Spot Gordon in the top left.

We met some old friends from Nungarin on our walk to Echidna Gorge. They told us to look out for the delight below. I hope I would have spotted it without being advised ... but glad they told us anyway!

We spent two days in Purnululu National Park, unexpected treats round every corner!
