Karijini, what can I say!

Karis took us to Dampier, Port Samson, Roebourne and other spots of interest in the area yesterday. Today we saw a turtle at Hearsons Cove. We went out dry foot and then the tide turned ... I was amazed at the speed it zoomed in. We leave for Millstream tomorrow after a super time with Karis and Wayne.

Beach that goes on forever, hues and colours good enough to eat ... but no fish! Tides all wrong apparently!

Gord and I loved our time with Pete and Sharry and were sad to leave. These images are a great reminder for us of the time we spent in Broome. Toughen up you two and come and visit us on the south coast. (They think it's cold in Hopetoun!)

We leave for Broome tomorrow after a great holiday with Pete and Sharry.

I'm not sure what the roads department are going to do next to make the road to Cape Leveque passable; at times it was like a tunnel with the sand pushed up against the sides at eye level!

You may wonder why my feet are in a bucket of water. A small clue; midgies and mosquitoes live here in abundance! They don't seem to care about all the vile things you put on to frighten them away!

We were quiet as we gazed at the pictures in these caves; enjoying them on one hand and reliving the times we'd searched for paintings in the caves of our youth on the other.

Mount Elizabeth Station was a surprise, as you will see in the next few blogs.

We have just pitched camp on the Fitzroy River at Willare Bridge and have comms again. Pete and some of his friends are joining us tomorrow.

We are at Home Valley Station, leave tomorrow for a free camping spot on a river tomorrow. We went to this spot and as ever water lured us to explore. If you look carefully at the rocks beside the painting you'll see how beautifully it was nestled. I expect you can find rock paintings amongst most rocky outcrops.

We are now at Home Valley Station which is beautiful in other ways! We have comms on a high hill so have been able to make contact.

Add to these pictures: the constant chatter of amazing birds, the enormous trees and ferns that grow in the warm damp places. Our only wish is that they put their beautiful gorges nearer the car park!

A sunrise trip to the billabong was a thrill for us.

These images were tricky to spot at first but once your eye was in they appeared mysteriously.

Our internet connections is pretty spasmodic hope you all get this. We are at El Questro and away from the fires! Fabulous already.
